Ride & Stride

When is Ride and Stride?
Saturday 14th September, meet at St Mary's in Stebbing at 0930.
What is Ride and Stride?
Ride & Stride began in Suffolk in 1981 as a fund-raising bike ride and quickly became a national event, now with over 30 counties now taking part.
Why take part?
The money raised enables Friends of Essex Churches Trust (FEC), to offer grants to local churches for projects to maintain or improve places of worship in the county. For example, installing a kitchen or a toilet, mending a roof or creating new seating areas.
Half of the money raised goes to FEC, the other half goes to the organising church, which is still eligible to receive a grant from FEC, as St. Mary’s did last year.
Who can take part?
Cyclists, walkers, horse riders and even sailors can register to raise sponsorship. The idea is that you obtain sponsorship for each church that you visit, either by bike, by foot, by horse or by boat. The more churches you visit, the more money raised!
You can participate individually or in small groups. We will provide suggested cycling routes of varying lengths nearer the time.
Also, volunteers are needed to help man the church to welcome visitors and to offer some refreshment.
How do I get involved?
Contact Peter Milner (tel: 01371 878079 / email: petermilner95@gmail.com), our local church organiser, for more details or further information. Also, details of how to set up a JustGiving page and link it to FEC and St.Mary’s are available on request.
